Laying new Cobbles in the Strand 1855.

This is an interesting engraving af a gang of roadworkers laying Cobbles in the Strand in London. The tools are heavy and cumbersome but all the workers have to drop them onto the Cobbles at the same time to create uniformity. [ No such thing as Wacka plates in them days.]
